How 1,300+ people safely took part in Ashgate Hospice’s Superhero Walk

This was the second year that Ashgate Hospice held its Superhero Night Walk to help raise funds to provide crucial palliative and end of life care.

Children taking part donned their favourite superhero costumes, with many families walking in memory of loved ones who had received care at the hospice. Participants took on one and three-mile routes from 5.30pm to help raise funds towards the hospice’s care for patients and their families. Entertainment on display included stilt walkers, big bubble displays, live singers and dancers, and more.

With more than 1,300 adults and children taking part, it was crucial that they were able to access the park safely, so a Trakway system was required for the event.

The challenge

Queen’s Park is a popular park located a few minutes from Chesterfield town centre, so it was important that the Trakway was safely installed with minimum disruption to visitors to the park.

The solution 

Our team installed our aluminium Trakway system quickly and efficiently to provide safe access for both pedestrians and vehicles. Not only did it allow safe and stable access over a grass surface, but it also ensured that the ground was protected and not damaged from the many people taking part in the event. 

The result 

The Superhero Night Walk was a tremendous success for Ashgate Hospice, helping to raise £50,000 to fund palliative care, whilst helping local families remember their loved ones. Such support helps Ashgate Hospice raise the £11 million needed each year in
order to fund care for families across North Derbyshire.
