To receive this award, Sunbelt Rentals Rail was required to demonstrate an on-going commitment to Network Rail’s Rail Plant Performance (RPP) system, as well as the provision of safe and compliant machines, attachments and/or operatives to Network Rail projects.

Sunbelt Rentals’s specialist railway equipment division was presented with the award earlier this summer and Sunbelt Rentals Rail Manager, Mark Hill, accepted the accolade on behalf of the company.

He said: “We’re extremely proud to have received a bronze award and this prestigious accolade is testament to our Rail team’s commitment to maintaining the highest possible standards in the sector.

“We closely monitor our performance through Network Rail’s RPP system and are currently operating at over 98%.”

Network Rail’s Route to Gold programme is an awards-based performance measure of plant supplier reliability, aiming to increase performance and quality within the plant supply chain and embed a culture of continuous improvement within the rail industry.

Having fulfilled strict criteria, the Bronze Award is the first milestone on the programme, graduating to Silver and then, ultimately, Gold.

James Helm, Network Rail’s Plant Reliability Team Project Manager, said: “We are delighted to have presented Sunbelt Rentals Rail with a Bronze Award.

“They have shown a consistent approach to capturing dry hires through their Rail Desk with over 500 shifts now loaded and scored in the Rail PPS.

“The team is clearly customer-focused and with the support to fully integrate Rail PPS across all of its depots, there is confidence of further progression.

“I look forward to supporting further improvement in the Sunbelt Rentals Rail Route to Gold.”

Network Rail’s PPS system was implemented to monitor the performance of their supply chain’s equipment.

The system is a web-based programme, which requires a user to log shifts when certain kit is used.
