Scope 3 Emissions Strategy
Partnering for a low and zero-carbon future
Our Scope 3 emissions, which cover the full supply chain, from our suppliers upstream to our customers downstream, represent the majority of our emissions.
That’s why we're focused on industry collaboration, innovating our product offering and investment to reduce emissions throughout the lifecycle of our products and services, empowering you to achieve measurable results.
From investing in low and zero carbon rental equipment to supporting your sustainability ambitions with actionable data, we’re building a responsible and forward-thinking approach to Scope 3 emissions.
Our commitment to reducing your Scope 3 emissions
Lighting
Largest fleet of solar, battery, and hybrid tower lights, offering 50–100% emissions reductions. All of sustainable lights are HVO-compatible, allowing you to switch to a fossil-free solution.

Plant & AttachmentsPowered Access
We have a wide range of electric, hybrid, and Stage V platforms, from scissor lifts to booms, ensuring the latest low-carbon equipment is available.
Powered AccessWelfare Units
Solar and battery-powered welfare units with improved insulation and reduced water use.
Welfare UnitsEnergy Management
Over 800 battery storage units supporting hybrid solutions for cranes, hoists, and other dynamic loads—cutting carbon emissions by 50–80% compared to diesel alone.
Energy Management
Smarter decisions through innovation and data
We equip you with the tools and insights to operate efficiently and reduce emissions:
• Telematics & National Uptime Centre: Monitoring 20,000+ connected assets to optimise usage, reduce downtime and reduce unnecessary site trips. Our team of externals can provide reports on best practices and alerts to reduce breakdowns and down time.
• Carbon reporting tools: We have developed a dedicated carbon dashboard to monitor and report carbon consumption from our fleet.
• BIM integration: Our extensive BIM library allows you to model projects or sites virtually, create the most energy-efficient layouts and identify low- and zero-carbon equipment swaps before work begins.
Building a circular, low-waste business model
We have set circular economy principles across our operations and business practices to reduce manufacturing demand, reduce emissions and extend asset life:
• Extensive repair and maintenance programmes across our business to extend equipment lifespan.
• Resale or recycle equipment at end-of-life
• Waste consolidation at our own locations through one single provider for better tracking and recycling
• Transition to reusable Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) to eliminate disposable oil drums and reduces cost per litre (through purchasing larger volumes).
• Over 90% of our waste is managed through a single provider and approximately 80% is weighed at the point of collection. Regular on-site checks across our depot network help ensure compliance with the new Simpler Recycling Legislation and identify opportunities to improve waste handling. Based on these insights, we have begun introducing
Collaborating across industries
We work with manufacturers and industry partners, including the European Rental Association, Supply Chain Sustainability School and Hire Association Europe, to create the next generation of low-emission equipment and develop industry-wide standards.
Through the New Futures Network, we operate a fully functional workshop at HMP Sudbury, replicating a depot environment to provide prisoners with practical skills in equipment repair while creating a circular economy model. In FY25, our workshop at HMP Sudbury repaired over 6,200 Trak-panels and 4,200 Police Barrier. Trakway panels that could not be refurbished were sent to a specialist third party, resulting in more than 250 tonnes of damaged material being re-melted and used to produce new panels.
We are an active member of the European Rental Association, sitting on the Board, statistics committee, technical committee and promotions committe e to help to shape industry standards and future direction. Through our membership of the European Rental Associations Sustainability Committee, we have actively supported the development of the ERA’s Scope 1,2 & 3 Carbon reporting guidance for the rental industry.
We are an active member and accredited supplier in BAFTA albert: a group of industry professionals supporting the screen industries transition to a net zero society.
Low and zero emissions energy and alternative fuel sources
Our expert team is actively exploring clean energy and alternative fuel solutions to help you to reduce carbon emissions, lower fuel consumption and operate more sustainably.
• Hydrogen: We continue to work with our supply chain to trial hydrogen-powered equipment, assessing its suitability for practical deployment across a range of applications.
• HVO: We are the first hire company in the UK to be a recognised fuel supplier under the Renewable Fuel Assurance Scheme (RFAS). This membership demonstrates our commitment to providing sustainably sourced renewable liquid fuels with credible greenhouse gas emission savings. We are promoting the widespread adoption of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) across all compatible fleets, helping you to reduce emissions without compromising on performance. Throughout FY25, we delivered 15.8 million litres of HVO to our customer and increase of 15% from the previous year
