Pan Jacks FAQs

Pan jacks give rail teams a controlled way to lift and support heavy track components on site. They’re commonly used during maintenance, repair and renewal work where a section of track, rail component or associated equipment needs to be raised, held or adjusted safely.

A hydraulic pan jack is useful because it delivers strong lifting force from a compact unit. That makes it well suited to trackside work, depot maintenance and other rail environments where access can be limited, but the load still needs to be managed with care. The broad pan-style base also helps with stability when working around ballast, sleepers and uneven ground conditions.

These jacks are often used for creating working space, supporting components during repairs, helping with positioning tasks or assisting wider lifting and handling operations. They’re a practical choice when the job needs more control than manual adjustment, but doesn’t call for a larger lifting setup.
