Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.

Agenda:

• Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
• Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
• Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries
• Conduct a head-to-toe survey
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with an eye injury
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected poisoning
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness
• Assessment: both practical and written

This three-day course is for delegates with a specific responsibility at work or in voluntary and community activities to help people in a range of first-aid situations.

Delegates must be able to perform practical tasks at floor level, and due to the practical nature of this course, delegates should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, e.g. trousers and flat footwear.

Successful delegates will receive a Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work e-Certificate valid for 3 years.
