Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.

These will include:

• The importance of safe manual handling
• How manual handling risk assessments contribute to improving health and safety
• The principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety
• How to apply safe manual handling principles
• Assessment: written and practical

This one-day course is suitable for all delegates to raise their awareness of the risks of unsafe manual handling practices and for people who might have to carry out manual handling duties in the workplace, including industrial and office-based environments. It is suitable:

• As an introduction to those starting work which involves carrying out manual handling activities
• For those returning to work where manual handling activities are required
• As safety refresher training

Due to the practical nature of this course, delegates should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, e.g. trousers and flat footwear.

Since manual handling can be physically demanding, delegates should also be physically fit and healthy. They should generally not have problems with heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, giddiness, difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence, including prescribed drugs or psychiatric illness.

Successful delegates will receive a Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling e-Certificate valid for 3 years.
