This SQA Level 2 Award for Working in and Control Entry Arrangements for High Risk Confined Spaces aims to provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely work in a high-risk confined space environment.

The course will cover:

Preparing for working in high-risk confined spaces
Entering and exiting high-risk confined spaces safely
Preparing and using self-contained (SC) breathing apparatus in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications
Using escape sets, tripod, fall arrest harness, gas monitor and safety line safely and per manufacturers’ specifications
Cleaning and preparing SC breathing apparatus for next use
Following defined procedures for working safely in high-risk confined spaces
Dealing with emergencies in high-risk confined spaces
Demonstrating an understanding of how to work safely in high-risk confined spaces

This course is for operatives/personnel seeking entry into, or already working in a job which may involve entering a confined space.

Delegates participating in this course must be a minimum age of 18, clean-shaven, medically fit to wear breathing apparatus and able to enter a confined space. Delegates who arrive with facial hair will not be accepted onto the course. Delegates should generally not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights/confined spaces, vertigo, giddiness/difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness. Due to the nature of confined space work and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only the provision for the practical and knowledge assessments to be undertaken in English.
