Teamwork makes the dream work

On Tuesday 6 September 2022 at the Ground Engineering Awards in London it was announced that following a combined team project between AECOM, Geotechnical Engineering Limited and Sunbelt Rentals, our hard work was recognised and we were awarded the ‘Community Engagement Award for our collaborative work in local communities.
The ground investigation project was part of an overall plan to reinstate a freight line to enable passenger services. Working together with Aecom and Geotechnical Engineering, we embedded community engagement into the project delivery with early pre-construction engagement, development of a strategy including setting of KPIs, progress meetings, ongoing monitoring and an end-of-project report.
Judges noted that the collaborative partnership delivered impactful outcomes and by matching local needs to the scope of works, meaning we were able to identify how we could manage any concerns.
What's more, the partnerships created during the GI element will continue to grow as the main works progress. The community engagement activity has created a legacy for local organisations and developed their capacity and resilience.
Our National Business Development Director - Social Impact, Jackie Cuthbert, said: “We are thrilled to receive our first Community Engagement Award from the Ground Engineering Awards for our collaborative work in local communities with customer Aecom and partner Geotechnical Engineering.
“In addition, this outstanding team of experts has also been shortlisted for the upcoming Consultancy & Engineering Award for Best Social Value Project in November 2022. Huge congratulations to our partners and volunteers as well as all the other nominees and winners.”
