Case studies

G7 Summit Carbon Free Transport Hubs
Since the London Olympics, Sunbelt Rentals has provided temporary infrastructure solutions for Stadium Management. Our 360 Solutions team is now supporting Stadium Management’s three-year program to provide major events for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). The 47th G7 Summit was the first of these high-profile projects, based in St. Ives in Cornwall, UK.

Keadby Power Station Outage
Keadby Power station is a 755 MW gas-fired power station near Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire. It was built on the site of a former coal-fired power station which had closed in 1984 and is now owned by SSE.
Sunbelt Rentals were approached by SSE to create a temporary contractors compound, to provide welfare facilities to subcontractors during a planned outage whilst annual maintenance work was carried out.

Balfour Beatty - EcoNet
As part of our quest to help our customers reduce carbon emissions, we have worked hand-in-hand with Balfour Beatty and Invisible Systems to develop Eco-Lync - a state-of-the-art, cloud-based energy and power management system which can reduce site emissions by as much as 80%. For Balfour Beatty projects, this system was known as EcoNet.

Eco-Friendly Lighting for Balfour Beatty Rail Compound
Sunbelt Rentals Rail worked closely with Balfour Beatty to design an environmentally friendly solution that safely lit the compound with zero noise and lighting pollution.

Sustainable Temporary Power at Killingholme
Balfour Beatty has a multi-million pound contract to build the onshore substation for Ørsted’s latest offshore wind farm, Hornsea Project Two, on the east coast of England. When it is operational in 2022, the wind farm will supply green electricity to over 1.3 million homes and will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm.
The new onshore substation facility will transform the power produced by Hornsea Project Two wind farm before connecting it to the National Grid. It is a major development in the future of the UK’s renewable industry and the project will make an important contribution towards the UK’s goal for renewable electricity generation.
During the construction phase, Balfour Beatty required a fuel and energy efficient means of providing power for temporary site accommodation and other equipment on the onshore substation site until 2021.
