City & Guilds Award in Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installation (C&G 2391-51)

This is a comprehensive course concentrating only on Periodic Inspections. It will result in delegates having an expanded and improved understanding of how to conduct inspection and testing on older installations, including being able to confidently complete Electrical Installation Condition Reports. Also, the recognised qualification is one of the underpinning knowledge requirements for Competent Person Scheme membership/registration.

This three-day course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.

  • Applying observations to BS7671
  • Differences between Initial Verification and certification

The award is for experienced and practising electricians who are confident in conducting inspection and testing. Delegates must hold a 2391-50 or equivalent prior to attendance.

Delegates will need to bring with them their own:

  • Test instruments, including a valid calibration certificate
  • Hand tools
  • Safe isolation equipment

Delegates will also need the following books, which are available to purchase if required:

  • IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition (BS7671:2018) Amendment 2 2022 brown book
  • IET On-site Guide 18th Edition A2:2022
  • IET Guidance Note 3: Inspection & Testing A2:2022

Successful delegates will receive a City & Guilds certificate.
