City & Guilds Level 2 Award in F-Gas and ODS Regulations: Category 2 (2079-12)
Focussing on the major principles of F-Gas and Ozone depleting substances (ODS), this City & Guilds course will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills required to work on the installation, service, maintenance, recovery and leakage checking of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment with a charge less than 3kg or 6kg (if hermetically sealed).
Delegates who successfully complete this qualification will be legally entitled to work on these systems within the UK in line with the 2009 F-Gas and ODS Regulations.
The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.
Agenda:
- Basic systems, principles and units and how they relate to the theory and thermodynamics of vapour compression cycles and refrigerants
- Causes and effects of global warming and ozone depletion
- Identification of air conditioning and heat pump components, functions and leakage risk
- Hazards and safe working practices
- Construction and examination of pipework
- Recovery of refrigerant and oil and prepare for disposal
- Pressure testing, evacuation and record completion
- Refrigerant charging, leak checking and record keeping
- Fabrication and fitting of mechanical and brazed joints
- Assessments
This five-day course is suited to delegates who are working or looking to work as a refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump system engineer and have some relevant knowledge and skills. You need this qualification as a licence to practise with fluorinated gases and ozone-depleting substances.
After successfully completing the course, delegates' results will be audited by a City & Guilds quality assurance process. On completion, a Level 2 award in F-Gas and ODS Regulations - Category II - City & Guilds 2079-12 certificate will be issued (Please note the quality assurance process may take up to 12 weeks).
