This is a hands-on course where you will learn the practical skills and theory of inspecting and testing. The course will go through inspection and test procedures and processes, including completing the required certification step by step.

It will build confidence and improve understanding of the requirements and methods to be applied when inspecting and testing new installations or circuits. When achieved, the recognised award is one of the underpinning knowledge requirements for Competent Person Scheme membership/registration. This is an ideal stepping stone to attending the 2391-51 course to be able to conduct Periodic Inspections.

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.

The award is primarily for practising electricians who are either experienced in inspection testing but maybe not fully confident in the correct methods or electricians with limited experience in inspection and testing. Understanding the operation of one's test instruments is advised. A BS7671 wiring regulations course and a Refresher course prior to attendance would be beneficial.

Delegates will need to bring with them their own:

• Test instruments, including a valid calibration certificate
• Hand tools
• Safe isolation equipment
