CPCS A56 Dump Truck - Novice
This course is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge to correctly operate a Dump Truck with an articulated chassis. It covers the theoretical and practical elements and is suitable for delegates with limited to no formal instruction or training.
The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.
These will include:
- Risks associated with quick hitch devices and how to use them safely.
- Operating the machine to a minimum standard.
- Fitting and operating ancillary equipment.
- Siting the machine safely and efficiently.
- Carrying out minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures.
- Preparing the machine for travelling on the public highway.
- The capabilities of each machine, including its purpose and limitations.
- All safety precautions necessary for the correct operation of the machine.
- How diesel engines work and how various parts of the machine operate.
- Which routine adjustments and servicing procedures are necessary, and how to execute them.
All delegates must have successfully passed a CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test, often referred to as the touch screen test, within the past two years.
Delegates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
Successful delegates will receive a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card (on successful completion of the CPCS Technical Tests).
Companies that are CITB registered and meet their grant scheme eligibility requirements may be able to claim a short course duration grant. Please contact us for further information.
