CPCS A61 Appointed Person - Lifting Operations - Novice
This course is suitable for supervisors and managers who are responsible for lifting operations. It will provide an understanding of the appointed person's responsibilities and how to fulfil them.
The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.
These will include:
- Observing regulations and Codes of Practice.
- Following safe systems of work, including method statements.
- Taking personal responsibility.
- Describing different types of cranes and associated terminology.
- Understanding crane documentation.
- Understanding crane stability, duty charts and safety devices.
- Appreciating tower cranes.
- Observing British Standard 7121 Safe Use of Cranes Guidelines sections 1, 2, 3 and 4.
- Recognising the role of appointed persons.
- Planning a lift.
CITB health, safety and environment test (managers and professionals level) passed no more than two years before the course start date.
You should have sufficient crane experience to meet the requirements specified in British standard 7121 Safe Use of Cranes.
Delegates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
Successful delegates will receive a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card (on successful completion of the CPCS Technical Tests).
Companies that are CITB registered and meet their grant scheme eligibility requirements may be able to claim a short course duration grant. Please contact us for further information.
