Excavation Rescue
This course is designed to provide the necessary theoretical and practical exercises to train delegates in how to assist in the rescue of casualties when working in open excavations. The course has been designed to cover current legislation and guidance including the HSE’s L101 and the use of davit arm systems along with stretchers and harnesses.
The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.
These will include:
- Legislation – Understanding employer/employee obligations relating to working in excavations and implementing rescue plans
- Duties of rescue
- Practically utilise stretchers and harnesses as part of an excavation rescue
- Recognising potential weather hazards
- Being able to safely install, use and remove davit arm systems
This course is suited to operatives who are required to oversee and/or carry out work in or around excavations.
Delegates must have full body harness training, in addition to being confined space trained.
Delegates undertaking this course must hold a current (in-date) and valid EUSR Category 5 Install, Inspect and Remove proprietary shoring systems qualification, or, a EUSR Cat 3+4+5, or, a EUSR Cat 4+5 qualification.
Successful delegates will receive an EUSR photo ID card.
