This two-day City & Guilds course has been designed for those with electrical experience who want to cover the new Institution of Engineering and Technology In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment 5th edition.

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.

These will include:

  • Equipment construction
  • Inspection
  • Combined inspection and testing
  • Recording and use of instruments
  • Visual inspection
  • Class one and class two tests
  • Continuity tests
  • Functionality tests
  • Insulation tests
  • Risk Assessment

This course has been designed for those with an established electrical background and a good understanding of electrical testing who want to or are responsible for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment. It is important to remember that if you are the duty holder of inspection and testing, it is essential that you are up to date with the latest approved codes of practice to ensure the safety of the site.

Delegates attending this course should be holders of the 18th Edition wiring regulations BS7671 and at least one of the following:

  • An ECS card
  • JIB electrician grade card
  • Have successfully completed an NVQ-based electrotechnical apprenticeship or technical certificate to level

Delegates will also need to bring with them the following book, which can be purchased in advance if required:

Successful delegates will receive a City and Guilds certificate.
