The Rooftop Worker Safety & Access course is designed to support the safety of those individuals who access and work on flat rooftops, for example, in the telecommunications and broadcast industry, as well as others.

Developed in collaboration with the telecommunications and broadcast industry Mast and Tower Safety (MATS) Group, the scheme standards detail the skills and underpinning knowledge required to access and work safely on flat roofs. The scheme does not include working on pitched or fragile roofs.

Agenda:

  • Legislation & safety standards that apply to working on a rooftop
  • Assessing risks related to rooftop access
  • Managing common hazards
  • Using harnesses
  • Using fall arrest lanyards
  • Selecting appropriate anchor points, including ‘weighted’ anchors
  • Using fixed fall arrest & work restraint systems
  • Using work position lanyards
  • Using additional fall prevention equipment
  • Suspension Intolerance (syncope) Awareness
  • Lifting & Lowering Systems
  • Demonstrating climbing techniques
  • Consideration of emergencies & rescue arrangements

Delegates must be 18 years and over, and all delegates must be able to certify they are physically fit and have no medical conditions that might prevent them from working at height prior to the commencement of training.

Successful delegates will receive an EUSR registration and virtual card.
