This NRSWA Signing, Lighting and Guarding (S1) training course is designed to provide supervisors with the knowledge and practical skills required to sign, light and guard streetworks and roadworks in line with the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991, revised 2002 Code of Practice (NRSWA).

The course content includes:

• The New Roads and Street Works Act
• Basic principles of signing, lighting and guarding
• Traffic control measures and when to use them
• Practical use of the Code of Practice
• Portable traffic lights and when to use them
• Practical use of equipment for street works and new roads
• Using Stop and Go, boards

This Signing, Lighting and Guarding training course is for supervisors working on the highways who need to supervise the erection of signing, lighting and guarding for work on roadways and highways as part of their job role.

Successful delegates will receive a certificate from the awarding body for the unit(s)/qualification(s) achieved, as well as a Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR) ID card valid for 5 years.
