PASMA Towers on Stairways for Users

See Course Dates

The PASMA Towers on Stairways for Users course will equip you with the specialist knowledge you need to work safely with stairway towers.

Using a combination of theory and practical work, this course builds on your existing tower knowledge (delegates must hold a current PASMA Towers for Users card) by introducing new techniques for working on stepped surfaces and new enabling components, such as portal frames and props.

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.

Agenda:

  • Work at height responsibilities of employers, employees and suppliers
  • Standards affecting the manufacture and use of cantilever towers
  • Where to find crucial safety information
  • When it’s safe to use a stairway tower and when it’s not
  • Carrying out pre-use checks and post-assembly inspections on stairway towers
  • The components used in a stairway tower
  • Assembling and dismantling a stairway tower using approved methods
  • Good practices for the safe use of stairway towers
  • Accessing a platform safely
  • Moving a stairway tower
  • Identifying hazards in the work environment
  • Avoiding personal health hazards

Delegates must pass the theory test before undertaking the practical element of the course.

Delegates must hold a current PASMA Towers for Users qualification.

This course is suitable for all delegates responsible for the assembly, use, dismantling, alteration, moving and inspecting of stairway tower structures.

Since the safe use of mobile access towers requires you to consult safety notices and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturer’s instruction manual, literacy and language comprehension are essential for any tower user.

Similarly, since the assembly and use of mobile access towers can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and healthy. Delegates should generally not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights, vertigo, giddiness, difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence, including prescribed drugs or psychiatric illness.

Upon successful completion of the course and registration with PASMA, delegates will be provided with their certification number that can be used to access their digital PASMA card via PASMA’s Towersure app.

The Towersure app is free to download on Apple iOS and Android devices. Our Trainers will talk you through this process at the start of your PASMA course.

If a physical PASMA card is required, these must be arranged with the training department before the course start date. An additional charge applies.

Companies that are CITB registered and meet their grant scheme eligibility requirements may be able to claim a short course duration grant. Please contact us for further information.
