This Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is a five-day course designed for site managers or aspiring site managers. It is for those responsible for managing, monitoring, implementing, and reporting in a construction environment. 

The course covers relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation affecting safe working conditions in the building, construction, and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of necessary control measures, and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture amongst the workforce. 

This SMSTS course is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all construction managers. 

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials.

  • Assessment including four core exercises, trainer review and end-of-course exam

There are no formal entry requirements. However, delegates should hold, or be about to hold, the role of the site manager. Previous health and safety knowledge is recommended. Those without previous health and safety management experience are recommended to sit the two-day SSSTS course. Delegates must be competent in written and spoken English, which is necessary for operating efficiently at the site management level. 

This is a five-day course. Delegates are required to complete the full course to be eligible for certification. 

 

Following the successful completion of the course, delegates will be awarded a digital CITB Site Safety Plus certificate that is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, delegates will need to retake the course before the expiry date.

Companies who are CITB registered and meet their grant scheme eligibility requirements may be able to claim a short course duration grant. Please contact us for further information.
