Coil Trailer Awareness Training

This course is designed to offer awareness for delegates who wish to familiarise themselves with the basics of Coil Trailer safety before handling coil trailers in the Water, Gas and Power sectors.  

This theory based course includes:  

  • Understanding the potential hazards, identifying the dangers, and taking steps to reduce the risks associated with Coil Trailers and all accessories necessary to perform essential Coil Trailers tasks.  
  • Thoroughly assessing the risks and safety considerations associated with each step of the coil jointing process: including loading the pipe onto the trailer, cutting bands before installation, and releasing it from the trailer (potential energy), in order to ensure the safety of everyone involved.  
  • Carrying out risk assessments and understanding how to create a Safe System of Work.  
  • Interpreting and recognising Coiler Trailer Guidance such as manufacturer issued instructions and specific company/industry procedures.  
  • Differentiating between different makes/models/types of Coil Trailers.  
  • Covering handling, storage, and transport of pipes and fittings.  
  • Identifying maintenance, service, and inspection frequencies in order to ensure safe operation.  
  • Executing pre and post-usage safety checks.  
  • Recognising Coil Trailer licensing, rules, and combined weights of van and trailer.  

This course is suited to operatives and managers who are required to oversee or carry out work with Coil Trailers.

For onsite courses, delegates will need to provide the make and model of the coil trailer(s) being used.

Please note this course does not teach or license delegates to tow trailers.

Successful delegates will receive an EUSR SMART card with photo ID.
