This course is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge to correctly operate a Skidsteer Loader. It covers both the theoretical and practical elements and is suitable for operators with 2+ years of experience.

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.

These will include:

• Naming and explaining the purpose of principle components, the basic construction, controls, and terminology.
• Conforming with manufacturers' requirements per the operator's handbook, other information sources, and relevant regulations and legislation.
• Undertaking all pre-use checks.
• Configuring and setting plant for site travel.
• Travelling over rough, undulating ground, substantial inclines, and level surfaces, laden and unladen.
• Manoeuvring in confined spaces.
• Configuring and setting for extraction and loading duties.
• Explaining actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services.
• Extracting differing types of materials from stockpiles and other sources.
• Forming stockpiles of segregated materials and constructing (temporary) ramps.
• Sorting and placing materials into transporting vehicles and hoppers.
• Backfilling, spreading, and levelling ground and materials.
• Carrying out plant shutdown and securing procedures.
• Explaining the loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation.

All delegates must have successfully passed a CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test, often referred to as the touch screen test, within the past two years.

This course is suitable for operators who have 2+ years of experience.

Delegates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.

Successful delegates will receive a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card (on successful completion of the CPCS Technical Tests).
