Domestic & Small Commercial Electric Vehicle Charging Installation (2921-31)
This City & Guilds Domestic & Commercial Electric Vehicle Charging Installation (2921-31) course is designed to help manufacturers, suppliers, and installers ensure a safe and efficient future, reducing the risk of unsafe and inefficient practices by adhering to the standards it sets.
It is also designed to enable electricians to develop their existing skills to include installation and maintenance of single electric vehicle charging units in domestic properties and small commercial premises.
Agenda:
- The specific requirements involved in designing and installing domestic and small commercial electric vehicle charging installations
- Different methods to protect against open PEN conductor faults and how to assess and identify issues with diverted neutral current
- The integration of electric vehicle charging systems into prosumer's electrical installations, including options for reverse feeding into the installation and/or supply grid
- The smart functions used in Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) and its relevance within the overall installation
- Domestic installations - Single phase 16-32 amp installs
- Commercial installations - Three phase 11-22 kilowatt installs
- 2-part qualification assessment - Scenario-based questions and online examination
This course is suited to qualified electricians only. As such, learners must hold one of the following and supply a copy on the first day of the course:
- 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures, and the Environment)
- 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)
- 5357 Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification
- 2356 Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker
- 2346 Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification
- ECS Gold Card (electrical), JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician Card (ECS)
With a key focus on designing circuits to supply EVCE, delegates are heavily advised to review circuit design calculations before attendance. The scenario-based assignment relies on essential knowledge of BS 7671 and design calculations for a successful outcome.
Delegates will need the following books, which are available to purchase if required:
