EUSR Flange Jointing Installation Training

See Course Dates

This Flange Joint Installation Training course is designed to equip operators with the essential knowledge and skills to confidently install networks. Training follows recognised best practices and covers both theoretical and practical aspects of Flange Jointing installations. Through comprehensive assessments, we aim to identify and minimise any potential risks associated with working with Flange Joints in the Water, Gas, and Power sectors. This training is applicable to both traditional trench work and above-ground operations.

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.

These will include:

  • Dangers associated with flange jointing, how to identify hazards, and minimise risks through control measures. We will also discuss the purpose and function of a flange mechanical connection and how it contributes to a leak-free seal.
  • Recognising flange face damage is essential in preventing leaks, and we will provide you with the knowledge to identify it. We will also address incorrect installation methods that can lead to premature failure and unequal loading.
  • Analyse the problems caused by overtightening bolts, including reduced hydraulic performance and restricted movement of pipework. We will also emphasize the importance of lubricating bolts to ensure correct torque loading.
  • Selecting the correct flange size and gasket is crucial for a successful joint. We will cover the pitfalls of incorrect gasket selection, such as environmental stress and premature failure, and how it can impact the lifetime performance of the connection.
  • The importance of selecting the right equipment and ancillary items, including torque wrenches, spanners, bolts, and lubricants, for flange joining operations.

This course is designed for anyone required to oversee or carry out flange jointing installations.

Successful delegates will receive an EUSR photo ID card.
