Scaffolders Safe Slinging & Lifting
The Scaffolders Safe Slinging course is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills to safely plan and lift scaffold materials on an operational site.
The course will cover:
- Legislation relevant to conducting lifting operations (Health & Safety at Work Act, LOLER, PUWER & L1103).
- Definition of key lifting terminology.
- Lifting plans.
- Load calculation and load characteristics.
- Load estimation.
- Safe lifting bag.
- Sling types and their attributes - ScaffGrip Board/Tube.
- Manual lifting appliance – Safe Lifting Kit.
- Pre-use checks of lifting gear.
- Planning the lift 9-point plan.
- Risk assessment overview.
- Pre-use check of Scaffolders Safe Lifting Kit.
- Anchor point selection & rigging of scaffolders Safe Lifting Kit.
- Safe slinging of scaffold tubes & boards - performing a lift & lower.
This course is aimed at scaffolders and managers who plan lifting operations.
Delegates must be over 18 and have good spoken and written English skills.
Delegates must also be able to certify that they are physically fit and have no medical conditions that might prevent them from carrying out lifting techniques.
Successful delegates will receive a Spanset certificate valid for 3 years.
