Sunbelt Rentals is the leading plant, tool and specialist equipment rental company in the UK, employing a workforce of over 3,700 employees. Having an engaged and diverse workforce is critical to the continued success of our business – and to achieve this we recognize that our culture must allow all people to feel valued and motivated to fulfil their potential.

Our people are our greatest asset, and we believe that by looking after them they will in turn look after our customers. This focus on our people and our customers we believe will allow us to achieve our vision of being recognized as the best company in our industry.

Sunbelt Rentals aims to attract a broad and diverse mix of candidates and new employees in to our business at all levels. We are proud of our sector leading apprenticeship scheme, which is growing year-on-year. We have 13 Apprentice Ambassadors working with local schools and colleges, and a strong commitment to being a Real Living Wage employer.

Our workforce reflects the nature of our business, the industries we operate in, and the markets we serve. A significant proportion of our employees are fitter engineers, HGV drivers and traffic management operatives, and these roles are predominantly held by males. However, we also have areas of our business which attract more women, such as professional functions, sales and customer service such that 13% of our total workforce is female. We continue to seek to promote increasing proportions of women in our business, and are already attracting more women to engineering and customer service apprenticeships. However, we do recognise that certain roles attract fewer women.

We have recently announced enhancements in both our maternity and paternity pay, with the intention being to both recruit into and retain more women within our workforce. We see this as an industry leading approach to encourage and reward a more diverse workforce.
