Sunbelt Rentals shortlisted for five awards at the Hire Awards of Excellence

The Hire Awards of Excellence, awarded by Hire Association Europe, takes place on Saturday 22nd April at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London. These awards celebrate the achievements in the UK’s plant, tool, equipment and hire industry, from start-ups to Europe’s largest hire companies.

We are delighted to announce that Sunbelt Rentals has been shortlisted for five awards in the following categories:

SafeHire Plant, Tool & Equipment Hire Company of the Year (Turnover over £10 million)

2022 has been a phenomenal year for Sunbelt Rentals, with many highlights including: delivering 13,285 training days for employees, increased turnover from £635.1m in 2021 to £725.7m in 2022, invested £135m in greener equipment solutions, developed our own sustainable future action plan ‘Our Planet’ and received our 11th consecutive Gold Medal Award from RoSPA.

Sustainability & CSR Initiative

Sustainability and CSR are key to Sunbelt Rentals strategic direction and have both a 10-year sustainability strategy in place called ‘Towards a low carbon and sustainable future’ and ‘Our Planet’ sustainability action plan inspired by a clear purpose: to transform lives and lead positive change across the rental industry to deliver a better future.

In the last 12 months 50% of the new rental equipment purchased is classed as sustainable and since 2021, Sunbelt Rentals has invested over £135m in greener equipment solutions across the entire fleet.

SafeHire Event Hire Company of the Year

The events team has delivered on an epic scale in 2022. Sunbelt Rentals was honoured to be selected as a key supplier for momentous events such as Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace and sadly the late Queen’s funeral, as well as the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the demobilisation of the COVID-19 testing sites. The Sunbelt Rentals team supplied 95% of all outdoor events UK-wide in some form of another.

Jay Campbell: Young Apprentice of the Year

Jay is an Apprentice Hire Controller at the Glasgow depot and we’re delighted that he has been shortlisted for this award. Last year Jay won a Hall of Fame award and considering he is only 18 years old, has made phenomenal progress since starting his apprenticeship with us.

Oscar Norman: Workshop Manager of the Year

Oscar is the Senior Project Engineer for Sunbelt Rentals’ Barriers and Fencing Team and recently won ‘Engineer of the Year’ at the Hall of Fame Awards. Oscar has been with the business for some 13 years, but over the last 12 months in particular he has really stood out for leading the project team in delivering some of the most momentous events in UK history such as Her Majesty The Queen’s Funeral and the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in London.
