The Senior Open 2022
The Senior Open is a prestigious golf tournament which was played for the first time this year, 2022, at The King’s Course, Gleneagles, Scotland. The King’s Course which is set on the vast 850 acre Perthshire estate hosted the 35th edition of the tournament, which took place 21st-24th July 2022.

THE CHALLENGE
One of the challenges for this event was to provide a sustainable method of transportation for staff and equipment which would ensure easy access around the large, rather hilly site. Sunbelt Rentals also needed to ensure there was minimal disruption and impact to the grounds of Gleneagles when installing and dismantling temporary site welfare facilities and roadways.
THE SOLUTION
Careful preparation and planning took place in the lead up to the event, with multiple site visits by Sunbelt Rentals experts to survey the grounds, manage deliveries and ensure the project was on schedule. Sunbelt Rentals created temporary welfare facilities using cabins and fully serviced toilet blocks throughout the event, along with temporary roadways using aluminium trakway panels. Innovative new electric equipment was also used for this project including electric bikes and EAV cargo bikes to transport people around the site, creating an impact free, zero emission, quick and easy way to travel and work.
Sunbelt Rentals were professional, prepared and provided effective solutions for the challenges that faced The Senior Open in the new location of Gleneagles King’s Course. The site visits before the event ensured all the equipment was suitable and the infrastructure worked with the course, allowing easy access around the site. The addition of the electric, zero emissions transport created a quick and easy way of travel, without impacting the environment of this famously beautiful course.
