Copeland Community Skills Centre

Along with a number of partners we are currently working on a Collective Impact Consortium in Cumbria. Our aim is to collaborate to create a Copeland Community Skills Centre.

The Skills Centre will enable Copeland residents, the local community and prisoners at HMP Haverigg access high quality, specialist skills training, to help them secure high value sustainable employment.

By collaborating and working together we will create a skills training centre, where key employers will help support and create a pipeline of work-ready, potential employees.

This will address skills shortages and help to deliver demand in current and emerging industries.

HMP Haverigg’s senior team has committed the use of a gated area of land. It is situated on the prison estate, but accessible externally by the local community.  They have also committed support from their team in the planning, development and operation of a potential training skills hub.

A variety of industry partners have committed to work together to focus opportunities to build a lasting legacy within West Cumbria. The onsite specialist hub aims to provide an employer-designed training and support programme with multiple points of entry.

Partners so far include: HMP Haverigg, Sunbelt Rentals, Morgan Sindall, Story Contracting, City & Guilds, Gen2 and Intertrain.
